Meet The Co-Founders

T. Venlo Odom, Drums, Co-founder, Music and Vocal Director


Venlo is one of the co-founders of Magical Sound of Motown. He is a professional musician who has provided drum grooves for over 45 years and has played with such greats as Barry  White, The O'Jays, Miki Howard, Melba Moore, bassist John Lee and Donnie McClurkin.  He has played such major venues as Mohegan Sun's Wolf Den, B.B. King's (NYC) and The Apollo Theatre with some of music's top R&B recording artists. Venlo is also currently a student at Eastern Connecticut State University, where he is working toward a B.A. in Music Performance with a concentration in Music Therapy, along with his A.A.S. in Music Business from Five Towns College, N Y


Michael Gregory Wilson, Bassist, co-founder and music arranger


Michael (The Bassman) Wilson  

Michael is one of the co-founders of Magical Sound of Motown.  Michael has been in the music industry for over 40 years. Michael has performed on stage with major artists such as, Huge Groove, Earth, Wind & Fire, Shante Moore, Gregory Lattimore, Jeffery Osborn, Gloria Gaynor, Frankie Valli, to name a few. Michael is also the founder of Amazing Bass Studios. A fully operated recording and rehearsal studio, where he has engineered projects for major artists as well.

Nirvana Lucie, Vocalist


 Nirvana, born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in the Dominican Republic is a bilingual singer-songwriter, producer and entertainer. She is a classically trained vocalist and pianist since the age of six (6). She has taken her learned knowledge of music along with her influences ranging from Patty Labelle, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston to Celia Cruz, and paired it with her love for entertaining. Nirvana has entertained audiences throughout the nation and has even graced audiences in Europe with her amazing talent. Not only through experience has she developed her own eclectic style, but through education as well. Nirvana obtained a Business/Music Degree with honors at Five Towns College in New York.  


Kevin Keyes, Vocalist


“The Big Man With The Even Bigger Voice” Is The Best Way To Describe This Brooklyn Raised Entertainer. Kevin Joined His First Band “East Island News”...After Several Years He Help Start His Next Band Called “BodyHeat”...One Of The Most Successful Show Bands In The Tri-State Area...Kevin involved himself in several recording projects including a record deal with “The Isley Brothers”...Kevin Has Collaborations With Many Recording Artists Including The Isley Brothers, Regina Belle, Will Downing, Amy Winehouse, Rufus Wainwright, One On One, Sharon Jones And The Dap Kings, Alvin Darling, The Givens Family, And Numerous Indie Labels As An Artist, Songwriter And Producers …Recently Kevin Was On Tour In 2018 With “Jon Batiste” From The Stephen Colbert Late Show....

Lena Soul, Vocalist


 Singer-Songwriter-Musician Lena Soul is a unique and truly gifted artist with an amazing ability that captures an audience and makes them feel her performances in their Souls. She fuses various elements of Gospel, R&B, Hip Hop and Jazz music together to produce a melodic and creative ground-breaking style that is all her own. Born in Brooklyn, New York Lena Soul began singing at the tender age of Three.  Lena Soul was blessed with an opportunity to sing background for Legendary, Grammy Award winning Artist, Mariah Carey and made appearances on television shows such as, "The View," "The Today Show" and "The Oprah Winfrey Show". In 2013 Lena Soul recorded background vocals on Mariah Carey's latest album entitled "I am Mariah (The Elusive Chanteuse) and has been a supporting vocalist for Mariah Carey ever since.

Jonny (J.J.) Wimbush, Vocalist


 Jonathan aka “Jonny” Wimbush was already singing at 3 years old. By age 5 he was performing with his family group, "The Pope Singers," and by 11 he already had began writing contemporary gospel music. He joined Gospel Group “HeavenSent” in 2009 and performed in front of Gospel greats like Fred Hammond, Marvin Sapp, James Fortune, Zacardi Cortez, and the Clark Sisters. After going solo in 2014, he released an EP in 2017 entitled “The Calling” which won 3 out of 4 Rhythm of Gospel Awards and received accolades for it’s gritty but true to life lyrics and musical style. In the spring of 2019 he released a new single called “You Poured Into Me” that was featured on the Indie Artists Now Brooklyn showcase hosted by Wanda Bell and David Wright. He also sung alongside Gloria Gaynor at a promotional radio interview in Philadelphia for her new Gospel album, “Testimony.”

Ray Stover, Percussionist


Ray has almost 40 years of experience as a musician as well as instructor. Over the years he has been in a multitude of diverse bands of various genres. He has proven abilities in teaching, leadership and performance with expertise in rhythm section and percussion instruments. He has an excellent ability to work with people of all ages as well as large groups. He devoted many years to teaching blind and mentally challenged children percussion in Canada.
